Burglaries in Jefferson Park prompt community alert

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Police issued a community alert on the Northwest Side after burglars broke into several homes in the city's Jefferson Park neighborhood.

The burglars used windows and doors to get into at least five apartments and houses in October. They stole electronics, cash and other valuables.

"It's getting worse and I don't feel safe around here anymore," said neighborhood resident Angel Perez.

"I'm just worried about my family hopefully everything just resolves," said neighborhood resident Hugo Vargas.

Police are urging people in the area to make sure all their doors and windows are locked and to call police if they notice suspicious people in the area.
