Meijer to hire 1,500 new employees in Illinois

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WLS) -- Retailer Meijer plans to hire 1,500 new employees for its stores in Illinois, store officials announced.

The move is part of a larger Midwest hiring expansion involving 10,000 new employees in preparation for the fall and holiday seasons, the company said. The store plans to hire more employees in the following states:

• Michigan: 4,800 team members
• Indiana: 1,800 team members
• Ohio: 1,700 team members
• Illinois: 1,500 team members
• Kentucky: 1,000 team members
