Robbers target cab drivers on North Side

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Police are warning cab drivers of strong-arm robberies on Chicago's North Side.

Two taxi drivers were robbed after finishing their shifts last Friday, authorities said. One driver was robbed in the 2300-block of Morse Avenue around 1:55 a.m. and the other was robbed in the 1500-block of West Arthur Avenue around 3:10 a.m.

Police said in each incident, the drivers were attacked after they had parked their cabs for the night. As the victims walked away from their vehicles, two men walked up to them, beat them and robbed them.

The suspects in the first incident were described as African American men with black dreadlocks wearing black hooded sweatshirts, police said.

The suspects in the second incident were described as 27-year-old African American men. Police said they were both around 6 ft. 5 in. tall and weighed around 170 pounds.

One man had a medium complexion with black dreadlocks. He was wearing a black and white jacket and gray jogging pants, police said. The other man had black hair. He was wearing a white jogging jacket and gray jogging pants.
