CHICAGO (WLS) -- Police recovered 386 pounds of cannabis worth $1 million during a traffic stop in the city's Austin neighborhood, officials said.

Police say they attempted to pull over James Hargett, 37, for an alleged traffic violation after exiting an alley in the 1700-blcok of N. Moody around 7:15 p.m. Saturday, police said.

Hargett allegedly fled the scene, later stopping his vehicle in the 6200-block of W. Cortland and fled on foot, police said. He was found hiding under a porch and taken into custody.

Police say they found the cannabis while doing a subsequent search of his vehicle.

Hargett faces a felony cannabis possession charge and other traffic violation citations. He is due in bond court Sunday.
