CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago is home to world-class museums. To celebrate the city's cultural offerings, Chicago Museum Week returns for its second year October 13-23, 2016. Illinois residents with a valid ID can visit Chicago's museums with discounted admission, exclusive offers, and special programs. New this year, 15 additional Chicago cultural institutions will join in the celebration. From the Chicago Children's Museum to the Swedish American Museum, Museum Week will offer visitors even more opportunities to feed their inner explorer.
Members of Museums In the Park include: Adler Planetarium, The Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago History Museum, DuSable Museum of African American History, The Field Museum, Lincoln Park Zoo, Museum of Contemporary Art, Museum of Science and Industry, National Museum of Mexican Art, National Museum of Puerto Rican Arts & Culture, The Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum and John G. Shedd Aquarium.
One of the exhibits you can visit is "Dia de los Muertos: Journey of the Soul" at the National Museum of Mexican Art. It's open Tuesday-Sunday, 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Barbara Engelskirchen and Carina Yepez from the National Museum of Mexican Art visited the ABC 7 State Street Studios to talk about Chicago Museum Week and their latest exhibit.
