Mujahadeen Muhammad, 18, dies in South Side shooting

CHICAGO (WLS) -- An 18-year-old man was shot and killed on the South Side Sunday morning.

Police say someone ambushed Mujahadeen Muhammad and shot him several times around 9 a.m. Sunday near 81st and Manistee in the city's South Chicago neighborhood.

The family said he recently graduated from high school and was planning on attending college in Chicago this fall.

"I was just so proud of him, because he was able to finish high school in spite of all the struggles that was going on in his life," said Timothy Peden Sr., the victim's uncle. "He was able to finish that task and we were so proud of him. And, he was just talking about moving on to other endeavors in his live."

Police have not made any arrests or named any suspects.
