CHICAGO (WLS) -- Lanes on the inbound Chicago Skyway have re-opened after being shut down early Thursday when truck carrying thousands of steel rods rolled over and spilled fuel on the Southeast Side.
The accident occurred neath 80th Street around 12:30 a.m. All lanes were shut down after the accident, with two lanes reopened shortly before 7 a.m. Traffic was being diverted off the Skyway at 87th Street.
The fuel spill prompted a HazMat response from the Chicago Fire Department. After the fuel spill as contained, crews still had to clean up debris, including steel rods that the truck was carrying.
