CHICAGO (WLS) -- Cleaner cabs - as in those using alternative fuel -- could be coming to Chicago.

The city's Department of Transportation is launching the Drive Clean Taxi Program.

The department is accepting applications from taxi cab owners and other public-passenger vehicle fleets.

Program participants can get vouchers -- worth as much as $10,000 -- toward each electric or compressed natural gas vehicle they purchase.
