Some harrowing moments during a Coast Guard rescue when their swimmer disappears for 30 seconds before reemerging with a missing rescue worker in his arms.
Two Oregon rescuers needed rescuing themselves after they fell into the ocean while looking for a missing 17-year-old.
Dramatic video shows the U.S. Coast Guard as they worked to find the missing rescue workers.
At one point, a USCG swimmer dove into the water. Thirty seconds pass without seeing the swimmer. Suddenly, he splashes to the top of the water with a worker in his arms.
The Oregon State Police offered another point of view on this tense situation on their YouTube channel:
Coast Guard spokesman Dave French says high swells complicated the situation as the helicopter crew flew "extremely close" to a rocky cliff.
Both workers were recovered. One of the workers was transported to the hospital in Lincoln City for care. Their condition is not known.
Sadly, the search for the missing 17-year-old was called off after 19 hours. The girl had reportedly fallen off a cliff while hiking.
