CHICAGO (WLS) -- For people who can't imagine facing the morning without at least one cup of coffee, a new study delivers good news.

According to research in the latest Journal of the National Cancer Institute, coffee consumption curbs the risk of malignant melanoma, a serious skin cancer.

In a study of 400,000 people, those who drank the most coffee were 20 percent less likely to develop the disease.

While more research may be needed coffee lovers can feel OK about having a second or even a third cup.
