CHICAGO (WLS) -- The 2015 Chicago Auto Show pulls into this week for its annual winter run, where car lovers get to sit behind the wheel of their dream rides.
They're flashy, trendy, high-tech and high-performance. Days before the show opens, manufacturers get to show off their newest automotive creations from concept to production - and some made in Chicago, like the 2016 Ford Police Interceptor.
"We have a feature called 'surveillance mode' Ford came out with," said Jonathan Honeycut of Ford. "This will detect a criminal or somebody from the back of the vehicle and send a chime, lock the doors and roll up the driver side window to give the officer a chance to react."
Ford is also showing off the 2015 GT350R Mustang, with Synch3 - new technology connecting your phone and its apps to the car's screen. But this classic car, with a 2.3-liter ecoboost engine, is fun to drive!
Dodge is showing pure muscle with the Charger and Challenger Hellcat, and the 2015 Dodge SRT Viper.
"There's always a certain segment of the population that wants to have a high performance, high horsepower car!" said Dan Reid, communications manager for Dodge.
Zero to 60 in under 3 seconds, 650 horsepower, 6.2-liter V8; that's one sweet ride!
For eco-friendy cars, the 2016 next generation Chevy Volt has a new, sleeker design and increased range. Hyundai is showing off the Tucson fuel cell.
"This is actually an electric car that's powered by hydrogen," said Rob Lescaille of Hyundai. "Compared to a battery electric vehicle, you get longer range and you don't have to charge it every night."
Other cars of note, the sleek and sexy Alfa Romeo 4C, the Jeep Renegade subcompact SUV and the Buick Avenir - a concept car with luxury, style and technology!
The show opens to the public at 9 a.m. on Feb. 14 and runs through Feb. 22.
