COSTA MESA, Calif. -- Costa Mesa firefighters rescued a bulldog named Angus after he fell down a 10-foot well near his home on Saturday.

Around 1 p.m., firefighters headed to a home to help get a dog out of a deep well after a neighbor stumbled upon the hole. The 14-year-old English bulldog had fallen into the hole where an old septic tank used to be that was hidden in dry brush under a deck in the backyard.

Angus's owner, Robyn, had posted signs all over her neighborhood in search of her beloved pet. She told firefighters Angus had no eyes and suffered from seizures.

Firefighters dug an access hole near the well and were able to hoist Angus out. He was reunited with Robyn and then taken to a local animal hospital for an evaluation.

After looking him over, the veterinary staff determined he was dehydrated, but did not suffer any broken bones or serious injuries and was allowed to go back home.
