CHICAGO (WLS) -- The CTA and the company that rolled out the Ventra system are headed to court.

Smart Systems Innovations has filed a lawsuit against both entities.

The New Jersey-based company claims the CTA and Cubic Corporation infringed on its patents for card reader technologies.

Smart Systems is asking the CTA and Ventra to stop the alleged infringement and pay out damages.

A CTA spokesperson declined to comment, saying the suit has not been reviewed yet.
