CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago's new Catholic leader made his first public appearance Saturday night since his installation on Tuesday.
Archbishop Blase Cupich performed the invocation at Chicago's longest running black-tie event.
The annual Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine's awards dinner was held at the Field Museum.
"It's an opportunity for me to get to know people quickly, and so I welcome that," he said. "It's been good, and I'm getting my rest so I'm ready to go."
The event is name after Samuel Cardinal Stritch, who started it back in 1950 to support the only Catholic medical school in Chicago.
