Divvy considers helmet rental program

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago's Divvy bike sharing program is exploring the possibility of adding helmet rentals.

Divvy managers said helmet rental technology is new, and it is looking at technologies being used in other cities as possible options.

The bike-sharing company reports out of more than 1.5 million trips taken in the first year, there were only about 10 incidents reported.

For now, Divvy is offering discounts for helmet purchases on the "Bike Shop Deals" section of its website.
