CHICAGO -- A local animal shelter is closed indefinitely after an animal there came down with the dog flu.

The "Chicago Canine Rescue" in the city's Forest Glen neighborhood is now closed for adoptions, while the staff treats the dog. There is no word when those adoptions will resume.

The infected dog caught the flu at a boarding facility.

Vets are urging pet owners to get their dogs vaccinated.
