ANAHEIM, Calif. -- A mother and her 2-year-old son were attacked by two dogs that escaped from a neighbor's yard in Anaheim.
The horrifying attack was all caught on surveillance video. Warning - the video contains graphic material and may be difficult to watch.
The footage shows Samantha Bishop and her son Grayson leaving their house. Bishop is seen calmly trying to get the dogs back to their home, but the animals begin surrounding Grayson.
Grayson falls to the ground, and Bishop scoops him up in her arms.
As the dogs get more excited, Bishop takes Grayson toward the door, but that's when things get worse.
The dogs began biting her arms, as she tries to protect her little boy.
A neighbor comes to help, but the dogs won't stop. The dogs end up biting Grayson several times, even pulling him by his hair.
After more than 6 minutes pass, another man comes to help. That's when mom and son are finally able to get inside their home.
"Firefighter had to pull me aside, because I was just, it was hard," describes Spenser Bishop, Samantha Bishop's husband.
Spenser Bishop raced home after finding out what happened to his wife and son. Paramedics rushed Grayson to the hospital with several injuries.
"Big laceration on his face and his leg. Luckily, I think he's going to be OK and we're just praying he doesn't get any infections," Spenser Bishop said.
Spenser Bishop says Grayson, who was born with autism, will need plastic surgery. He's grateful for the people who ran to help, because he says he doesn't think the dogs would've stopped.
"You know, mid-morning, most people are at work, but the people that did help, I really appreciate them and very thankful they were there. My son and my wife might not be here today," he said.
The dogs were both taken into quarantine by Orange County Animal Care. The owners of the dogs declined to comment.
Spenser Bishop is now seeking legal help, because he says this should have never happened, and he doesn't want it to happen to anyone else.
"Very scary to know that, you know, we can't walk out the door to get coffee wondering if there's going to be an animal to come attack," he said.
