ELGIN, Ill. (WLS) -- A woman and three children are recovering Sunday after being burned by illegal fireworks in northwest suburban Elgin, police said.

The group was walking way from the city's fireworks display near Wellington Avenue Saturday night when someone shot off illegal fireworks, hitting them.

The 38-year-old woman suffered burns to her face, neck and leg. A 4-year-old girl and two boys, ages 10 and 15, were also hurt. All four were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are still investigating.
