ELMHURST, Ill. (WLS) -- Rescue crews freed a worker who was trapped when a dump truck rolled over at a west suburban construction site.

It happened at a day care construction site in the 400-block of Spring Road in Elmhurst. Crews were called to the scene around 11:45 a.m. Tuesday.

"They found a dump truck that had tipped over and the dump had fallen onto the cab of the truck, trapping the driver," said Chief Jeff Bacidore, Elmhurst Fire Department.

A total of 45 first responders from nine fire departments worked for more than two hours to free the driver. Fire officials said the 39-year-old man from Streamwood was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.

"His condition now I'm not sure of, but he was conscious and alert," said Chief Bacidore.

Elmhurst police and OSHA officials are investigating the incident.
