88-year-old woman killed in Englewood fire

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A woman was killed in a fire Sunday morning in the Englewood neighborhood, the Chicago Fire Department said.

The woman suffered critical burns at a home in the 7100-block of South Lowe Avenue, the fire department said. She was transported to St. Bernard Hospital where she died.

The victim has been identified to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office as Virsia Banister.

Firefighters have not said how the fire may have started.
