Military kids get free backpacks, school supplies

NORTH CHICAGO, Ill. (WLS) -- Some local military children received free backpacks and school supplies Friday night thanks to Operation Homefront's central Midwest office.

The supplies were given to lower and mid-grade ranking military families at Naval Station Great Lakes.

More than 2,500 volunteers with Operation Homefront provide help to families of service members and wounded warriors.
