2 Harvard men charged after police seize over $11,500 worth of cocaine

HARVARD, Ill. (WLS) -- Froilan Avila-Romo and Angel Cruz, both of Harvard, were arrested and charged in connection with a multi-state cocaine operation, police said.

Avila-Romo and Cruz were arrested Tuesday during a traffic stop in Walworth County, Wis., after police said one of the men was found allegedly possessing 3 ounces of cocaine. The same day, Harvard police and Rockford DEA conducted a warranted search of 713 W. Burbank St. in Harvard, seizing 236.5 grams of cocaine worth $11,575, a 2005 Dodge Charger and $2,400 in cash, police said.

Avila-Romo, 29, and Cruz, 25, both face multiple felony charges for delivery and possession of a controlled substance.

Cruz is being held in Walworth County Jail on $150,000 bond, while Avila-Romo is scheduled to appear in bond court Friday on $25,000 bond.
