CHICAGO (WLS) -- Parts of the Chicago area could see frost as low temperatures dip to near freezing overnight Friday.

A Frost Advisory has been issued for Boone, Lake, McHenry and Winnebago counties from 1 a.m. to 8 a.m. Saturday.

The early spring cold snap is putting area flowers and plants in danger. It's keeping the workers at Adams and Son Gardens in Humboldt Park busy.

They've brought some of their plants into their greenhouse to keep them safe from the frost we could see Friday night. But owner Irene Adams says not all plants are in danger.

"Anything that has a hard stem to it will be OK. Anything that is waxy, that is very, very delicate-leafed definitely needs to come indoors or covered," Adams said.

Adams says vegetables and herbs are in the greatest danger. She says you should loosely cover plants with newspaper or plastic overnight.
