CHICAGO (WLS) -- There's a new plan to put Gov. Rauner's proposal of selling the Thompson Center on the fast track.

State House Republican Leader Jim Durkin proposed legislation Thursday that would allow the governor to skip requirements that the building first be put up for sale publicly.

Earlier this week, the governor announced his plan to sell the 16-story Loop building, saying it costs the state around $100 million to maintain.
