CALUMET PARK, Ill. (WLS) -- A portion of northbound I-57 near Calumet Park has re-opened after a shooting that injured one person, police said.
Someone pulled up and opened fire onto an SUV traveling in the northbound lanes around 4 a.m. Saturday, police said. This caused the 22-year-old male driver of the SUV to lose control of the vehicle, which then struck the guardrail on the right side of the road, officials said.
A 24-year-old man, who was a passenger in the vehicle, suffered a non life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg and has been transported to a local hospital.
Northbound lanes from 147th to the Cal Sag Canal were closed Saturday morning for police investigation, but have since re-opened.
