Bicyclist seriously injured in West Side truck crash

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A woman riding her bicycle was seriously injured in a crash with a truck in Chicago's Illinois Medical District neighborhood, officials said.

The crash occurred shortly before 4 p.m. at the intersection of West Roosevelt Road and South Wood Street. The circumstances surrounding the crash were not immediately clear, though it appeared to have occurred when the truck was turning.

Chicago fire officials said the cyclist was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious to critical condition. The crash is under investigation.
