CHICAGO (WLS) -- A new rating system for Illinois schools is being launched this year which gives less weight to state exam scores and graduation rates.

Schools are being graded on a 100-point scale and 30 percent of the score will depend on student achievement and academic progress while 70 percent will be based on factors including family involvement, school atmosphere and decision-making that involves administrators, teachers and students.
