Graphical representation of closures and detours:
The westbound I-94 exit (Exit 34B) to northbound US-421 will be closed. To access Michigan City from WB I-94 the official detour will route traffic to SR-49 (Exit 26A) where traffic will take two loop ramps which will place traffic on eastbound I-94. Traffic will then take the 34B exit from eastbound I-94 to enter Michigan City. The two following images show this detour highlighted in green. (11 miles)
The southbound US-421 exit to eastbound I-94 will be closed. To access eastbound I-94, the official detour will divert traffic onto westbound I-94 where traffic will take the same double loop pattern at SR-49. This will place traffic in the proper direction for eastbound I-94. The two following images show this detour highlighted in blue.
The northbound US-421 exit to westbound I-94 will be closed. To access westbound from I-94, the official detour will divert traffic onto eastbound I-94 where traffic will continue to the US-35 Northbound exit (Exit 40 B) where traffic will take two loop ramps which will place traffic on westbound I-94. Traffic will then take be heading in the proper direction on I-94. The two following images show this detour highlighted in purple.
