FOREST PARK, Ill. (WLS) -- Jeffery Schultz, 40, was struck and killed while riding his bicycle in the 1400-block of Harlem Avenue in Forest Park. Police are searching for the driver.

Schultz, of Forest Park, was pronounced dead on the scene on Sunday, June 1, 2014, around 10:30 p.m.

"He then went on, hit the guy. The guy went up in the air and came down," witness Stephen Lewis said. The driver that struck Schultz stopped briefly and then took off, Lewis said.

Schultz, an architect, was struck and killed just around the corner from his home. He moved to Forest Park from Oak Park about six months ago. Neighbors say biking was his main form of transportation.

"I don't understand how another human could kill someone so tragically and leave," Beverly Wilcher, neighbor, said.

The car that hit Schultz was located in Berwyn, Ill. Police are still looking for the driver. Anyone with information should call (708) 366-2425.
