Most people groan whenever they see holiday season ads being pushed too early in the year, often trickling into our lives just after Labor day. K-Mart, however, fully understands the idea of over-commercializing the holiday takes the spirit out things in their new holiday ad campaign. While advertising their new, no-money-down layaway offer -- only happening in December -- K-Mart wants you to know: this is not a Christmas commercial.

"Let's say you have an event in late December that you need a lot of gifts for. Like, maybe your entire family is having a birthday on the same day," suggests Kelly, the K-Mart spokesperson in the ad. "Now's the time to go to K-Mart and put those gifts on layaway."
While obviously tongue-and-cheek, the ad has been met with controversy for a couple reasons: 1) using the word, 'Christmas' instead of 'holiday' and 2) for continuing to advertise the holiday season far too early in the year, despite the ironically terrible attempt at subterfuge.
