The daughter of a Kmart employee is taking on the retailer over its decision to start holiday shopping on Thanksgiving.

Jillian Fisher has launched an online petition to ask Kmart to give thousands of workers the day off.

Kmart announced stores will stay open for 42 straight hours, from 6 a.m. on Thanksgiving, to midnight on Black Friday.

The petition asks stores to ask employees who want to volunteer to work the holiday.

K-Mart says it's aware of Fisher's mother's schedule and that Fisher's mother has been given her preferred shift on Thanksgiving.
