Man, 87, fatally struck by train in Lake Forest

LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- The Lake Forest station reopened along Metra's MD-N line after a freight train struck and killed an 87-year-old Lake County man, officials said.

The man, whose identity has not yet been released, was struck around 2 p.m. on Thursday.

For about three hours, trains ran on a single track in the area and bypassed the Lake Forest station. They began stopping there again just before 5 p.m.

Police continue to investigate.
