Man killed in crash on Lake Shore Drive

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man was killed after he lost control of his car on Lake Shore Drive Sunday morning, Chicago police said.

Police said the man was traveling northbound in the 2000-block of North Lake Shore Drive when the car veered off the road and hit a tree. The force of the collision split the car in half.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released by authorities. No one else was in the car at the time.

The accident appears to be alcohol related, police said. The accident is under investigation.
