Police warn Lakeview residents of robbery involving pepper spray

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Police are warning Lakeview residents of a series of robberies, including one involving the use of pepper spray.

In the incidents, police say the offenders allegedly approached the victims on the street, using force and - in one incident - pepper spray while robbing the victims.

Robberies were reported at the following locations:

  • 3300-block of N. Sheffield on May 23 around 2:35 a.m. - both offenders were described as African American males, one of which is between 6-feet-tall and 6-foot-2 weighing 190-215 pounds.
  • 900-block of W. Belmont on May 23 around 4:50 a.m. - police say three male African American offenders were involved in the incident. One is described as between 23-25 years old and 5-foot-7.
  • 600-block of W. Briar Place on May 26 around 4:20 a.m. - police say three male African American offenders were involved in the incident. One was described as around 6-foot-1 weighing 165 pounds. Another was described as being around 5-foot-9.
