CHICAGO (WLS) -- Lane Tech High School was evacuated Thursday after a bomb threat, officials said.

A bomb squad responded to the school's campus in the 2500-block of W. Addison on Chicago's Northwest Side.

A spokesperson for Chicago Public Schools said in a written statement: "CPS is thankful for the quick response from law enforcement following a bomb threat earlier this evening at Lane Tech College Prep. Law enforcement officials conducted a thorough sweep of the building and determined it is safe to occupy. The safety of our schools is our top priority, and we will continue to work with law enforcement on the ongoing investigation."

Classes will be in session at Lane Tech on Friday. CPS said there will additional security as a precaution.

Police have not said where the threat came from.
