Man charged in North Center armed bank robbery

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Larry Dollar, 43, has been charged in connection with a bank robbery in the city's North Center neighborhood, officials said.

Police say an offender entered MB Financial Bank in the 3900-block of Damen Avenue around 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, got a cup of coffee and left the bank. The offender then returned a few minutes later and allegedly demanded $10,000 from a bank employee, claiming that he had a gun. Police say he then fled the scene on foot.

A few blocks away from the bank's location, two Chicago police officers identified a suspect matching a description shared with police and arrested him.

Dollar, of Chicago, faces one felony count of bank robbery.
