CHICAGO (WLS) -- After 34 years in Chicago, ABC7 anchor Linda Yu signed off Wednesday during her final 4 p.m. newscast.

She was Chicago's first Asian American TV anchor, as well as impeccable journalist with dogged instincts. During breaking news, the call in ABC7 newsroom has long been, "Get Linda on the set!"

During her career, she inspired and mentored many. She also gave generously to many community organizations.

Many will remember her during her tenure on the 11 a.m. news anchoring alongside Sylvia Perez. They were paired together in 1992 when the news was on at 11:30 a.m. Then, 11 years later, the news was expanded to an hour. Their pairing was really ground breaking at the time. Not only were they the first female anchor team in Chicago, but it was certainly ground breaking to have two female minorities anchoring together. Throughout Linda's career, she's been a role model and mentor to so many young aspiring journalists. Watch the video below to hear a tribute from some of Linda's friends and colleagues.
