Members of Englewood's Police Athletic Activity League or PALS had a chance to watch "McFarland, USA" before it hits theaters nationwide.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A new Disney movie that is about to launch nationwide inspires Chicago coaches and young athletes this weekend.

Members of Englewood's Police Athletic Activity League or PALS had a chance to watch "McFarland, USA" before it hits theaters nationwide.

The movie stars Kevin Costner and is based on a true story about a track coach at a predominantly Latino high school.

Chicago's PALS president says this is event is important for many reasons.

"We want the kids to see that they can make it if they put their minds to it and have the courage to say no to drugs and gangs," he said. "Then they can become effective in our community."

Eyewitness News's Stacy Baca emceed the event in Logan Square.

The movie debuts Feb. 20th.
