Metra to offer free Wi-Fi on 1 railcar per line

CHICAGO -- Metra is now offering free Wi-Fi on each of its lines as part of new pilot program. There will be one railcar on each line that offers Wi-Fi, and the car will be labeled.

Metra says the service should be used for checking e-mail and browsing the web, not streaming video. There may also be dead zones along some routes.

The pilot program will last six months. Metra will then determine if the service is dependable.
