Father of Michael Flatley, famous Irish dancer and Chicago native, dies

CHICAGO (WLS) -- The father of world famous Irish dancer and Chicago native Michael Flatley has died.

Flatley posted on Twitter that his father Michael James Flatley passed away on Friday. Services will be next Wednesday in suburban Orland Park. His body will then be flown to Ireland for burial.

Flatley has attributed part of his success to his father's worth ethic.

The younger Flatley is known worldwide for his Irish dance shows including "Lord of the Dance" and "Celtic Tiger."
