CHICAGO (WLS) -- The minimum wage debate will re-ignite Monday in Chicago, as Mayor Rahm Emanuel has called a special City Council meeting on raising the minimum wage to $13 an hour.
A work force committee will meet Monday, and the special council meeting will meet Tuesday.
The mayor's spokesman told the Chicago Sun Times that it is to prevent the general assembly from pre-empting the proposal.
State legislators return to Springfield on Tuesday.
Critics say raising the minimum wage will hurt companies, and add to unemployment.
