Joshua Grayer, Jermaine Powell charged in Austin shooting that left 1 dead, 1 hurt

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Joshua Grayer and Jermaine Powell, both 19, were charged in a fatal shooting in Chicago's Austin neighborhood.



A man was killed and another wounded while standing in a yard in the 5500-block of West Corcoran Place around 10 p.m. Friday.



Denzell Franklin, 23, suffered gunshot wounds to the face and under his arm. He was pronounced dead at the scene less than an hour after the shooting.



A 24-year-old man was shot in the arm. He walked to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park. His condition is stable, according to police.



Grayer, of the 1200-block of South St. Louis Avenue, was charged with first-degree murder and aggravated battery. Powell, of the 5900-block of West Huron Street, was charged with first-degree murder and two counts of aggravated battery.
