Boy, 12, shot in chest in Gage Park

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A 12-year-old boy was shot in the chest Thursday night in Chicago's Gage Park neighborhood.

Police said the boy was shot just after 9 p.m. in the 3000-block of W. 54th Street. A witness told ABC7 the gunman was in a car and drove off after the shooting.

Fire department officials said the boy was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in critical condition.

Police continue to investigate.
