NIPSCO begins text program for reporting outages

CHICAGO (WLS) -- There's a new way to get your power restored in northwest Indiana.

NIPSCO wants you to text them during an outage - customers are now encouraged to text the word "out" to 4-4-4-1-1-1.

NIPSCO will text back to confirm the address and give updates on repairs. The company says they are not charging customers for the text.
