PALATINE, Ill. (WLS) -- A pedestrian was fatally struck by a Metra train near the Arlington Park station, halting trains on the Union Pacific Northwest line.
Rolling Meadows police said the pedestrian was struck and killed near Northwest Hwy. and Rohlwing Road in Palatine Wednesday morning.
Some inbound trains were moving at a restricted speed past the incident site around 8:15 a.m. Wednesday, according to Metra's website, and trains may be operating 40-120 minutes behind schedule. Metra also said outbound trains remain stopped.
Metra said the train involved in the pedestrian incident, Train No. 622, remains halted near the Arlington Park station.
Outlying CTA Blue Line stations will temporarily honor Metra tickets, according to Metra's website.
Traffic on Northwest Hwy. was also being obstructed.
