Polar Plunge raises more than $1.2M for Special Olympics Chicago

CHICAGO (WLS) -- The event that lured singer Lady Gaga and actor Vince Vaughn into the icy waters of Lake Michigan raised more than $1.2 million.

The Special Olympics says the 15th annual Polar Plunge last Sunday broke all fundraising goals. Lady Gaga, Vaughn, and more than 4,500 others participated.

The money funds year-round activates in Chicago as well as Special Olympic uniforms, equipment and transportation for the athletes.
