WAUCONDA, Ill. (WLS) -- Charges have been filed against a man who allegedly threatened to blow up police officers at his home in far north suburban Wauconda.

Andreas Stachel, 49, was taken into custody without incident, police said. The bomb scare late Thursday night forced the evacuation of around 125 homes.

Investigators said Stachel told a pawn shop employee in Round Lake that he was terminally ill and planned to lure officers to his home with the intention of blowing it up. The employee then tipped off police.

A bomb unit found explosive devices, firearms, ammunition and a large stash of marijuana.
