CHICAGO (WLS) -- Police are warning businesses on Chicago's Far North Side about a string of recent burglaries.

A community alert said thieves have hit at least five businesses this month - four in the city's Rogers Park neighborhood and one in the city's Edgewater neighborhood:

Police said the suspects got in by breaking locks and windows or prying open doors at the back of each business. They got away with cash from the registers as well as store goods.

Here's a list of where each burglary occurred:

-6900-block of North Sheridan Road between Jan. 8 and Jan. 9 between 9 p.m. and 6:10 a.m.

-1100-block of West Thorndale Avenue on Jan. 16 at 4:32 a.m.

-1400-block of West Morse Avenue on Jan. 13 between 4 a.m. and 8 a.m.

-6600-block of North Clark Street between Jan. 21 and Jan. 22 between 7:30 p.m. and 8:50 a.m.

-6500-block of North Clark Street on Jan. 23 between 2:30 a.m. and 5:50 a.m.

Police said business owners should make sure security cameras, inside and outside their stores, are placed high enough not to be tampered with.

Anyone with information regarding these burglaries should contact Area north detectives at 312-744-8263.
