Off-duty Chicago police officer shot in Beverly during altercation, CFD says
An off-duty Chicago police officer is hospitalized after he was shot early Saturday in the Beverly neighborhood, according to CFD.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- An off-duty Chicago police officer was shot in Beverly on the Far South Side Saturday during an altercation, according to the Chicago Fire Department.

The shooting happened near 104th and Artesian at around 2:30 a.m., CFD said.

The Chicago Police Department has not confirmed an officer was involved but said a 31-year-old man was shot in the back.

According to CFD, he was driven to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in Oak Lawn.

CPD lists the victim in fair condition.

No one is in custody.

Area Two detectives are investigating.
