O'Hare Airport to add 5 new gates as part of $1.3B infrastructure plan

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Five new gates will be added to O'Hare Airport as part of the first major expansion of gate capacity since 1993, Mayor Rahm Emanuel's office announced Sunday.

This comes on the heels of the announcement of a $1.3 billion major infrastructure expansion plan, which is expected to improve on-time performance at O'Hare.

American Airlines is covering the cost of the project and is anticipates the new gates will be finished by 2018.
